#STYLUS RMX EXPANDERS SERIES#
These loop collections from the Studio ProFile series feature legendary studio drummers playing acoustic drum grooves with their unique style and feel. If I had only one I'd probably get RMX and then purchase "Backbeat", its sub $100 acoustic kit styles expander.Sonic Reality has released 8 new Groove Expanders for Stylus RMX. BFD gets used for the acoustic stuff only (and even for this stuff I may still use RMX to create the initial groove idea, and then sub in the BFD sounds through MIDI). I have both BFD and RMX, and I find that RMX gets used much more for its quick groove creation. You can also drag out the MIDI portion of a groove and quantize it to taste, sub out drum sounds, etc.
#STYLUS RMX EXPANDERS PLUS#
You can layer up to 8 separate grooves, plus there's a "Chaos" function which is essentially a user-controlled randomizer which adjusts patterns, timing, pitch, etc. Its files are all based on MIDI (somewhat akin to Sonar's groove clips), so the grooves automatically adjust to tempo. Where RMX really is unique is in its groove creation. However both are expandable (BFD offers a "lo fi" module, while RMX offers more acoustic sounding expander), so you're not limited to what you get off the shelf. So soundswise they are actually quite different. BFD comes with excellent acoustic kit samples, while RMX (at least out of the box) has more hip hop / electronic type sounds.
